Late last year, the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) earned the utmost distinction: most veg-friendly airport in the nation!

“The nation’s second-busiest airport won the honor from the Physician Committee for Responsible Medicine, a Washington, D.C., group that advocates vegetarian or vegan diets. Its annual airport review noted that 90% of the eateries at LAX offer meatless munchies,” reports the Los Angeles Times.

Indeed, LAX boasts an all-vegan eatery; Real Food Daily featuring a variety of plant-based dishes; Ink.sack spotlighting a veggie bánh mì with barbecue tofu; and even “Farmers Market” offering an array of fresh fruits and veggies!

But LAX isn’t the only airport with amazing vegan options. Here are five more:

John F. Kennedy International Airport

Enjoy any of nine different animal-free soups at Au Bon Pain, a delicious black bean veggie burger from 5ive Steak, vegan pad Thai at Balducci’s, or a Mexican chopped salad from Loft! Even the New York Sports Bar’s menu includes a grilled vegetable sandwich and seasonal beet salad!

O’Hare International Airport

Partake of veggie sushi rolls at Wicker Park Sushi, a black bean burrito and Mexican quinoa salad from Burrito Beach, or a Garden Goddess wrap from The Goddess & Grocer. Plus, CIBO Express stocks a wide selection of ready-made vegan meals and snacks, including buffalo tofu, buckwheat soba noodles, and kale salads.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport

Tickle your taste buds with a loaded veggie burrito at Blue Mesa Taco & Tequila Bar, savory lettuce wraps and edamame from Ling & Louie’s, or a delectable vegan burger at UFood Grill. And don’t forget Au Bon Pain! Try the Tuscan white bean, curried rice and lentil, black bean, or vegetarian lentil soup.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

Build your own veggie meal at Garbanzo Mediterranean Grill or grab an ALT (avocado, lettuce, and tomato) sandwich at Lotta Frutta or vegan tacos at The Original El Taco. P.F. Chang’s also offers a wide variety of plant-based options, including its famed tofu lettuce wraps.

Denver International Airport
Head to Colorado Sports Bar for a vegan burger, Cru Food and Wine Bar for fava bean bruschetta or fresh hummus, or Root Down DIA for a house-made vegan burger or Concourse “C”aesar salad! Denver’s airport also hosts a zpizza, which offers delicious pizzas with nondairy cheese!

*As always, be sure to double check ingredients and ask your server to ensure no animal products are used to make your meal.
